Bookkeeper (Temp-to-Hire)

Location: Baltimore, MD

Schedule: Hybrid - 3 Days On-Site / 2 Days Remote

Pay Rate: $25-$30 per hour

Position Overview

A respected local nonprofit organization in Baltimore is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join their finance team on a temp-to-hire basis. This role will support day-to-day accounting operations with a strong focus on Accounts Payable and nonprofit financial processes. Key Responsibilities

  • Process full-cycle Accounts Payable, including invoice entry, coding, approvals, and vendor payments
  • Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards
  • Assist with month-end close activities, including reconciliations and journal entries
  • Track expenses and allocations across programs and funding sources
  • Support grant tracking and reporting (experience is a plus)
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements
  • Maintain vendor files and ensure compliance with internal controls
  • Collaborate with program managers and finance leadership as needed

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Accounts Payable experience required
  • Nonprofit accounting experience required
  • Grant accounting or grant tracking experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite in Baltimore)
